Dzień po oficjalnej premierze nowego utworu Bon Jovi – “This House Is Not For Sale” internet zalała fala recenzji na temat nowego singla. Media zauważają, że jest to piosenka zwiastująca nową erę w historii zespołu. “This House Is Not For Sale” zapowiada bowiem pierwszy album Bon Jovi bez gitarzysty Richiego Sambory. Serwis Yahoo publikuje na swojej stronie materiał o premierze przeplatając kadry z najnowszego teledysku urywkami starych wywiadów, w których Jon mówi jak bardzo dla niego ważne jest pojęcie jedności zespołu. Magazyn Rollling Stone publikuje na swojej stronie internetowej artykuł, w którym opisuje akcję rozgrywającą się w teledysku do piosenki. Jon Bon Jovi odbywa nostalgiczną samochodową podróż po dzielnicy New Jersey, w której kiedyś mieszkał mijając domy wystawione na sprzedaż. Z tym miejscem wiążą się zapewne wspomnienia z dzieciństwa.
Według magazynu miałby o tym świadczyć fragment: These four walls have a story to tell/ The door is off the hinges, there’s no wishing well. Outside, the sky is coal black/ The streets are on fire/ The picture window’s cracked and there’s nowhere to run”.
Jeff Giles z Ultimate Classic Rock zwraca uwagę na styl nowego singla, który ma być “powrotem zespołu do muzycznych korzeni”. Przywołuje wypowiedź Jona:

Interestingly, This House Is Not for Sale finds Bon Jovi still under the Island Records Group umbrella — the same label they appeared to kiss off for good with the title track from their contract-fulfilling Burning Bridges LP. Although the new record is being issued through Island proper and not the Mercury imprint where they’ve spent the bulk of their career, they remain working within the same corporate structure — reportedly the result of cooler heads prevailing after the two sides severed ties.
