I jeszcze:
. I don’t remember nearly as many of the details, but here are a few comments to add:
1) Just died when Jon opened with Every Word Was a Piece of My Heart. My favorite song off Destination Anywhere...
2) Jon playing Elvis was really sweet... In response to a fan who’s mother just passed away a month ago who had been instrumental in getting the fan on this trip and loved Elvis. It took a minute for Jon to figure out what to sing, and he and Bobby went back and forth trying to agree what key to start in, but I thought they pulled it off beautifully. Jon sounded amazing, and Lorenza on the violin made it even more so beautiful.
3) It’s My Life was the TLFR version. It was amazing.
4) I don’t think Jon planned to play Make A Memory, but he started strumming the first few notes (I think while talking about the Lost Highway album), and then when we cheered, he stopped and joked that Lorenza had asked him before they left if he’d be playing that song, because she needed to bring her viola for it, and he said no, but she didn’t trust him... Anyway we got him to play it (and Lorenza had her viola), but then halfway through he just stopped, smiled, and said he didn’t want to play it anymore.... everyone cried out, so he rolled his eyes and started it back up again. It was fun how casual and spontaneous the set of songs were.
5) Both Amen and Thick of Thieves were by request - I think the question actually was what inspired those songs, and after he answered someone shouted for him to play them... He said he wasn’t sure if he remembered Amen (really??) – he started playing and had to ask the audience how it began but no problem getting an answer there. For another verse he needed help again... LOL.
6) There were a lot of people who spoke very eloquently to Jon about how much the band’s music has meant to them. Lots of really nice sentiments expressed, all of which I hope Jon takes to heart.
7) Someone proposed to his girlfriend as part of his question... was amazing how fast David Bergman was there on the spot taking pictures of it, LOL. Jon jokingly pointed out that the Graceland Chapel was open.
8) At one point Jon introduced the others, and the guy on keyboard was Arnie, or something close to this.
9) Someone asked Jon about his history with Bobby and made a point of saying what a spectacular guitar player he was. Was really nice to see Bobby highlighted like that.
10) I was really impressed that Jon said absolutely nothing negative about Richie. He’s been nothing but completely professional and respectful through all of the cr*p. Really have to hand it to him for staying above it all.
11) I’m not sure if this was already mentioned, but the photo op was after the concert instead of before. Seemed to be based on Jon’s schedule/preference. Not a lot of time for our eyes to re-adjust to the light as they herded us into line almost immediately!
Love love LOVED this whole experience. The storyteller show was just amazing. I’m heartened that Jon is still doing things like this for the fans, and the fact that there’s another trip just a few months down the road hopefully means he’s not throwing in the towel completely (despite his comments about being unsure of the band’s road ahead). I also thought that David’s photo presentation was FANTASTIC – a huge highlight. It was just amazing to see his pictures and hear the stories behind them – really a glimpse into the tour that we wouldn’t otherwise see. I wish there was a video to be able to relive that too...
